Sweden passport photo requirements 2026 — Polisen checklist

Every Swedish biometric passport-photo rule — 32-36 mm face, light grey background, no glasses since 2016, 300 DPI.

What Polisen actually checks

Swedish biometric passport photos follow the spec published by the Polismyndigheten at polisen.se. Sweden uses the standard EU 35 × 45 mm with a 32–36 mm face and a light-grey background — same as Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the rest of DACH/Nordics. The Polisen scanner reads at 300 DPI on-site, so the photo you bring need only meet that minimum. Live spec on our Sweden passport photo page.

The numbers

  • Print size: 35 × 45 mm.
  • Face height: 32–36 mm chin to crown.
  • Resolution: 300 DPI minimum.
  • Background: light grey, uniform.
  • Maximum age: 6 months.
  • No glasses since 2016.

Where you submit it

Pass and Nationellt ID-kort are issued in person at a Polisen passport office. You book via polisen.se and bring the printed photo to the appointment. Sweden is unusual in that the photo can also be taken on-site at many stations using their own equipment, but bringing your own is faster and cheaper.
