foto2pass

We replaced the photo shop.

Foto2Pass is the passport photo tool I wanted to exist when I had to renew my own passport and couldn't find an hour in the week to sit in a chair at a studio.

Why we built this

Official passport photos are a solvable problem that's still being solved in 1990s-era photo shops. Every country publishes its rules online (face height, neutral expression, plain background), yet most people still drive to a studio, pay, and hope the clerk gets it right.

We built Foto2Pass to turn each country's published biometric rules into an AI pipeline: take a selfie on your phone, our system checks it against that country's rules and produces the file in a few minutes. If your government rejects it anyway, we refund in full. We check our output against the same specs the inspector uses, so the downside is on us.

How it works

Every photo runs through the same pipeline: MediaPipe face detection for eye, chin and crown landmarks, an AI check against the country's own rules, background replacement to the spec colour, a precise crop to the print size, and a final measurement to verify the file is inside every tolerance. The rules come from the official government documents (Rijksoverheid, GOV.UK, Bundesdruckerei, ANTS, travel.state.gov).

  • Honest compliance

We measure what the inspector measures. If our output is outside spec, we tell you, let you retake, and don't take your money for a photo that'll fail.

  • Privacy-first

Photo files in our storage are deleted automatically after 30 days. We do not sell data or train AI on your photos. Our privacy policy lists every service that receives data, with or without consent.

  • 24 countries, every age

Photos for 24 countries, each checked against that country's own rules, with local prices and printing.

  • Built by someone who uses it

Run by one person. Every feature here exists because I, my family, or a user needed it. No growth hacks or dark patterns.
