France passport photo: only a licensed pro or approved booth
A French passport or ID card photo must come from a licensed professional or an approved booth. Where to get it, and what the official page asks for.

Read whyA licensed professional takes the photo
For a French passport or identity card, the photo must be taken by a licensed professional photographer or an approved photo booth, according to service-public.gouv.fr. A photo you take yourself, or one made by an online service, is not accepted. The same goes for the driving licence photo.
Foto2Pass cannot help with this one, and we do not sell a French passport, ID card or driving licence photo.
What the official page asks for
- No white background: a light, plain one such as light blue or light grey.
- A bare head. The official page lists no exception for head coverings.
- The photographer or booth knows the other rules and checks them for you.
What to do
- Go to a licensed photographer, or use a booth that is approved for ID photos.
- Then book your appointment at the mairie, as service-public.gouv.fr explains.
